Recruitaholics: Is In Mid-Season Form

This Week: 2013 News, Commits in Action, Prospects in Action, New Offer, A Few Illinois Reactions, and Little Brother Attendees

2013 News

OL Kyle Bosch and FB Wyatt Shallman will be a part of the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.  Add them to the long list of '13 commits who will be part of a national AA bowl game.  Here's what Bosch had to say about joining a few other future teammates, thanks to Steve Wiltfong:
“I’m looking forward to just the network and meeting some of the kids out there and seeing some of the competition I’ll be playing against in the next few years. I know (Michigan commit) Ross Douglas is going out there and (future Wolverine) Wyatt Shallman is invited out there and going, so it will be fun to hang out with them and meet other recruits across the country.”
“It’s really exciting to be a Wolverine,” he said. “Being able to see all the fans and the whole fan base of Michigan, there is no other fan base like that in the country. Being able to sit back and watch them and root for them as they play every Saturday, it’s cool that at some point in my life I’ll be on TV playing for Michigan.”
'13 Commit TE Jake Butt has released a mid season highlight film of his own.  The hands on this kid remind of TE Devin Funchess' this season. Man, what a two headed monster those two could be in the future.

Commits in Action

Guess who's baaaaaack...
QB Shane Morris was back under center leading his De LaSalle team for the first time since he was hospitalized with mononucleosis.  Check out this brutal welcome he got from a blitzing opponent:

Ouch!! But this doesn't mean Morris struggled; actually he was the opposite.  Morris looked in "mid-season form" according to Kyle Bogenschutz, who also praised his arm strength and throwing ability:
To say Morris didn't miss a beat after being out for over a month couldn't be more correct.  He was very impressive in the Pilots win over U of D 39-12.

Detroit Cass Tech was in action after taking a big loss last week, 44-13, against King (MI).  This week was a different story.  The Technicians blew out Mumford (MI) 49-0, and none other than DB Jourdan Lewis was a major factor, being named this week's PSL Proud Strong Learner of the Week award:
“He’s a young man you can always depend on,’’ Cass Tech coach Thomas Wilcher said. “He has a great work ethic and he plays full speed.”
Lewis, a 5-11, 165-pound wide receiver and cornerback, came into the spotlight last year as part of Cass Tech’s Division I state championship team that dismantled Detroit Catholic Central, 49-13, at Ford Field. His 46-yard TD reception from Jayru Campbell with 11:13 remaining in the fourth quarter gave Cass Tech a 42-7 lead, instituting a running clock the rest of the way by virtue of the 35-point mercy rule.
This also leaves out a 95 yard (!!) TD catch that was called back due to a dreaded yellow flag aka "a penalty."

TE Khalid Hill helped lead Detroit East English Village (say that 5 times fast) to a 2nd straight (defending champs) championship berth in the Detroit Public School League.  Josh Newkirk was on hand for the game and got a reaction (w/highlights) of the game from the future TE:
“It was so crazy. We came out strong. They wouldn’t stop fighting,” the future Wolverine told GoBlueWolverine. “Every year we play them, we know it’s going to be a difficult game. We just came out and executed every play right. On offense we scored on most of our drives. We only punted one time with one turnover. Which is a great thing.
“Every game I’m getting better and better,” Hill said. “I did pretty good in the blocking game today helping my team out--getting yards and everything. So we’re going to keep going and working. We’ve got to keep getting better every day.”
Hill did tally one score in 37-22 victory.

Prospects in Action

WR LaQuon Treadwell is here once again. And while you don't have to watch the full 10 minutes, I recommend checking out the highlights of last weeks 59-0 shalacking especially at the 2:15, 3:00-3:20 mark and a big hit at 3:30Kid can straight ball. Treadwell had 3 TD's on the night.  Nothing else really needs to be said.  Also watch for #5 '14 LB Nyles Morgan's big hit at 3:58:

'13 RB Derrick Green was the latest to receive a national award by Rivals.com Recruiting Analyst Mike Farrell.  This week he took home the Recruit of the Week, after rushing for 136 yards and 4 TD's in just a quarter and a third (!!) on Friday...makes sense after reading his team won 62-0:

Green also had this to say about his upcoming official visit for the MSU game:

'14 WR Derek Kief broke the 100 yard mark for the 4th straight game (!).  To be exact, he had 8 catches for 103 yards and 3 scores.

Check out this game winning catch by Michigan target '14 TE Jeb Blazevich:

'15 RB Damien Harris showed off why he's already a top running back in the '15 class.  This week, Harris went for 194 yards and 4 TD's.

New Offer:

'14 OL Denzel Ward was having a tough time figuring out what to do on Saturday, as I mentioned last week.  Reasoning for the confusion...Purdue was currently the only offer Ward had received so he wanted to take another look, but at the last minute he changed his mind and he couldn't have been happier after Hoke and Company rewarded the young kid with an offer:
