Breaking B1G: Week 6 bowl projections

Meant to get this out yesterday, but weekend household projects made that impossible.  This should be a regular Sunday post from now on.

We're 5 weeks in and Big Ten teams are finally playing each other. So it seems like a good time to start making ridiculous projections as to which teams will go to which bowls. Here are my thoughts going into week 6.

B1G Rank Bowl This Week Previous Week
1st
Nebraska N/A
2nd
Michigan N/A
3rd
Purdue N/A
4th
Wisconsin N/A
5th
Northwestern N/A
6th
Michigan State N/A
7th
Iowa N/A
8th
Minnesota N/A

• I've had Nebraska as my B1G winner since the end of spring ball. They scared me a little on Saturday night when they spotted Wisconsin an early 17-point lead, but then they proved me right when they clawed back and won by 3. If Michigan was playing Nebraska at home, I'd probably have Michigan going to the Rose Bowl.

• Michigan State continues to be exposed against somewhat talented teams. They're slide down the rankings was fully expected by this blogger. How anyone picked them to win the B1G with all those question marks on offense is beyond me.

• I think both divisions are a two-horse raise, Michigan-Nebraska in the Legends and Purdue-Wisconsin in the Leaders. Northwestern could make things interesting if they can keep winning, but I don't see it happening. They've played well, but their conference schedule get exponentially tougher.

• The Leaders division is a mess. Penn State and Ohio State lead that division, and we all know where they'll be ringing in the new year.
