BTB Roundtable - Week 2

1. Week 1's in the books. What surprised you about your team? Are you optimistic? Disappointed? (NOTE: Purdue does not apply here, so these fans must talk about Wake Forest instead)

What surprised me? Well let me see...

Nothing really. I was disappointed in the defensive effort in the first half, especially the line and linebackers not getting ANY pressure on Utah's QB. But the offense was pretty much where I thought they'd be. No Michigan fan worth his salt can tell me that expectations were not at an all-time low.

The defense ought to be better this week. So I am optimistic in that regard. I still don't know what to expect from the offense. It's going to be a wacky season offensively. I think Threet will start. McGuffie and Shaw will continue to see the bulk of the carries, and lots of receivers will spread the field. If Minor and Brown don't see more carries, me thinks at least one of them could be on the next Amtrak out of AA.

2. Beanie Wells' foot is definitely the top story in the conference. What's #2?

It has to be Rodriguez. Michigan and tOSU are the salt and pepper of the B10 (guess which is which!). People either love or hate UM...so "Rich Rod's" struggles early are fodder for tOSU blogs and the MSM (See: Q #3)

3. Admit it: you loathe DickFraudROFL (*né* Rich Rodriguez), but when Michigan scored that last touchdown, you were rooting for them to make the 2-pt. conversion.

Take a wild guess.

4. Is this weekend's slate of games actually *less* interesting than last week's?

Week 2 is less exciting because it's just not week 1. When every team is 0-0, the world is their oyster. But when you're 0-1 or playing a MAC team, or both...the season takes on less excitement than it did a week ago.

Team by team:
Team_______Week 1________Week2_______Better/Worse
Illinois ______Missouri_______E. Illinois_____Much Worse
Indiana______W. Kentucky____Murray St.____Toss-up
Iowa ________Maine________Florida Int.____Toss-up
Michigan_____Utah_________Miami Oh_____Worse
Michigan St.___Cal__________E. Michigan____Worse
Minnesota____N. Illinois______BGSU________Better
N'westrn_____Syracuse_______Duke________Worse
tOSU________Y'town St.______Ohio________Toss-up
Penn State____Coastal Car._____Oregon St.____Better
Purdue_______--___________N. Colorado____Better
Wisconsin____Akron_________Marshall______Better
So I guess depending on who you cheer for, you're mildly playing a more interesting game, another lame mid-major or FCS, or you're having a pretty large drop-off from week 1.

5. Don't you hate pants?

Why no...not when you get great clips like this?
