Recruitaholics: Our #1 Recruiter At It Again

This week: Shane Morris and Team Max Ex Blue fall short of repeat, 2013 news, Bailey and Wilkins visit reactions, 2014 stuff w/offers and more, and of course Sayonara Suckas

This picture below is all so familiar.  To the left, shirtless (maybe this will attract some female viewers hmmmm...), is QB Shane Morris.  The two he is talking to?  You should be able to pick one out based on the old school box top he is rockin'...Yes, that's teammates Alvin Bailey on the right and Leon McQuay with his backed turned.  I can only imagine how much time he spent recruiting these two studs to join him as a part of Michigan's top class.  From the looks of it, he may be getting the job done!  I mean he seems to be our #1 recruiter these days ya know?!

Getting ready to compete for the 'Ship

IMG 7on7 in Florida

Derek Tyson of ESPN told me that Team Max Ex Blue teammates WR Csonte York and TE Khalid Hill have been impressive at IMG 7on7 and noted that Hill was "a pretty under the radar guy."  Hill is BIG (I never realized how big until I watched the championship game), versatile and was a match up problem all weekend.  I believe we will see him move up in the rankings if he has a solid senior year. They both seemed to be creating very good chemistry with future QB Shane Morris, who had a strong performance as well.  He spoke with RecruitingNation during the event about his game, the weekend, and recruiting other players to Michigan (seeing a trend here).

Team Tampa, which features a few of the last remaining targets for 2013 in WR Alvin Bailey (recent visit reaction below) and DB Leon Mcquay (visiting in July), were to much to handle and beat Team Max Ex Blue in the Semi Final and then again in the final after Shane Morris lead his team back to the ship by winning the losers bracket.  Mcquay and Bailey were spectacular and created havoc on both sides of the ball.  If both of these two don't make a jump in the rankings, consider it highway robbery, especially McQuay.  If it weren't for teammate, and top ranked CB (Scout) Vernon Hargreaves III, he may have taken home MVP honors himself.  Scout has the story on how Team Tampa was able to take home the 'Ship while  Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports breaks down the top performers of the weekend.

2013 News

Steve Wiltfong also heard that S Dymonte Thomas had himself a day at the Cleveland 7 on 7 last week.  He quoted a source saying "He was incredible! Will be a great college safety!"  There is no surprise here as Thomas could end up as the nation's top safety when it is all said and done.  The excitement level over this guy continues to grow each time I hear about him and he looks pretty swole if you ask me.

Top remaining target IL WR LaQuon Treadwell confirmed once again that Michigan is still the team to beat according to Adam Gorney.  He participated in the B2G camp this weekend in Los Angeles and proved once again why he is flirting with 5 star status taking home Offensive MVP honors. 247 Sports breaks down his performance.  A new highlight video has also surfaced.  Pretty impressive as usual, if you ask me especially at the 1:50 mark and again laying someone out at 4:20.

DB Jourdan Lewis joined future members of the '13 class OL Chris Fox and LB Mike Mccray by receiving an invite to the Army All-American Game. Here is the full list of participants.

Eddie Vanderdoes will not include Michigan in his top ten because Michigan has told him they are down recruiting DL.  If a spot opened up he would have interest in Michigan.

Last Week's Visits

2013 FL WR Alvin Bailey made a visit to Ann Arbor last week and Bailey has Michigan high on his list. ESPN's TomVH gives us a little insight on how the visit panned out for Bailey:

"Michigan is targeting some top prospects at wide receiver, and the coaching staff got its chance to impress one of the targets in person. Receiver Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) took a trip to Ann Arbor for the first time and said the visit boosted Michigan's position.

"It helped them a lot. I was already up on Michigan, but this definitely helped," he said. "I knew some things about them, but being able to see it in person it meant a lot."

Bailey, who is the No. 5 ranked athlete in the country, said the best part of the trip for him was seeing the Big House up close, since he has never seen a stadium that size. After a spontaneous game of pickup basketball with his friends, he got a chance to sit down with the coaching staff to discuss what Michigan has to offer."

'13 TN RB Jordan Wilkins visited this past Tuesday and enjoyed the visit. He posted via Twitter that Michigan was a "Great School.  I liked it a lot."  This one is just to hard to figure out.  He is very quiet and doesn't give much insight into his recruitment.  I still say him and Derrick Green are the top two targets and getting Jordan on campus is huge, but this may be an uphill fight.   He will make his decision before his senior season begins.

2014 Stuff

VA DT/DE Deshawn Hand will visit Ann Arbor in the fall.  He gave everyone an update of his top 7 here.  I don't see him panning out to be an interior defensive lineman (as projected by Scout) unless he puts on A LOT of weight but this guy is an absolute beast!   He is arguably the top player of 2014 and any team having the privilege of adding him to their team is getting an automatic game changer.  The fact that he is going to make a visit is huge!  Hopefully Coach Mattison can use his inner Houdini like usual and get this kid to start off the '14 class in a big, big way.

Top OL Nathniel Devers has no offer from the Wolverines yet but has mentioned that Michigan is his #1 up to this point.  I see the coaches extending him an offer any day now and may get a commit on the spot when it comes his way.

OH LB Michael Ferns has trimmed his list to Michigan, ND, and Penn St.  Sam Webb breaks down the story here.

Michigan is high on '14 OH CB/S Darius West's radar.  He had a strong performance at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp earlier this month. Maize & Blue News has more on the talented defensive prospect.

Offers/Future Visits

-2014 CA ATH/TE Tyler Luatua was offered last Wednesday.
-2014 TN OT/DE Alex Bars has been offered.  His older brother, Blake Bar, was a part of the 2012 class.
-2014 UT OL/DL Brian Mone is considering a trip to Ann Arbor this week *UPDATE* Sam Webb confirmed Mone will be in Ann Arbor this Wednesday.  He was the first offer of the '14 class.
-2014 offeree FL OL Mason Cole will make a trip to Ann Arbor.

Sayanora Suckas:

-2014 MI WR/SG Drake Harris decided to commit to MSU.  "Little Brother" stole a good one here. Bummer!
