Week 9 B1G Power Rankings and Bowl Projections

No sense in hiding it anymore. For Michigan, it's Harbaugh or bust.

Rankings are determined before each week's games.

The upper crust
Showdown in East Lansing in one week to determine who will be in the driver's seat in the East. Until then, Ohio State needs to take care of business against lowly Illinois. MSU is bye. Both Wisconsin and Nebraska looked good a week ago.

I predict if Michigan State beats Ohio State, they'll win out and make the playoff.

The contenders
Minnesota did themselves no favors last week in their loss to Illinois. They needed that win now that their schedule really ramps up. They're tied, for now, for first in the west. Iowa benefitted from a bye week while the rest of the west was shaken up and Maryland keeps alternating wins and losses.

Everyone else
Michigan is on a path to bowl ineligibility unless they can 3 of their next 4 games. The most winnable being tomorrow against the Hoosiers. Penn State was oh so close to making their way out of the cellar, but was on the unfortunate end of some horrible officiating. Rutgers looks to be going bowling, but they're very hot and cold this season. Northwestern could make a bowl if they turn this thing around right quick. Purdue, Illinois and Indiana remain the bottom 3.
