As of this week, Penn State is eligible for post-season play, and thus is now ranked on this chart.

1. Michigan State
Hey, sure they lost to Oregon. But so would every other Big Ten team. They hung tough for 3 quarters and that's enough for me. The Big Ten is a tire fire, and Sparty is the king of this heap.

2. Wisconsin
Beat a terrible team by a large margin, that's what it takes to be the 2nd best team in the league.

3. Nebraska
Beat McNeese State by only 7, but they still won. Their second win against a bad opponent.

4. Minnesota
Jerry Kill has the Gophers off to a good start. But like most everyone else, they've played no one. They travel to TCU for a good road test this Saturday.

5. Ohio State
They looked good at times, but bad for the rest in their loss to Virginia Tech. Its a long season, so who knows how much they can bounce back, but its going to take a lot at this point.

6. Penn State
Hey! Whadayaknow...bowl eligible as of today! Thats good news for the Big Ten and even gooder news for Penn State. Sure, it makes the NCAA look like a hot mess...which it is, but we already knew that. This changes everything for this season as now players have even more to play for. With likely no B1G team going to the CFB playoff and having Penn State back, we may fulfill our bowl obligations!

Oh, who am I kidding.

7. Michigan
Grumble sounds. Unintelligible murmuring. Heavy sighing. Repeat.

8. Maryland
Beat South Florida by 7. Good enough for me.

9. Indiana
Bye last week...mercifully.

The rest
Rutgers beat a bunch of future investment bankers 38-25. Illinois beat Western Kentucky 42-34. Iowa barely beat Ball State 17-13, and fell off out list. Northwestern and Purdue might as well switch to the MAC, which they wouldn't win.
