Thursday News

• Greg Paulus, once considered a Michigan QB hopeful, is going to become a Syracuse Orangeman this season.

• If you have a couple extra bucks laying around and nothing to do tonight, you could swing by The Standard Club in downtown Chicago tonight around 7PM and attend the 77th annual Sports-O-Rama, an event put on by the UofM Club of greater Chicago. Head football coach Rich Rodriguez, men's basketball coach John Beilein, AD Bill Martin will be attending.

Rodriguez was in DC a couple days ago speaking to alumni at an event. Someone had their camera rolling...and we must embed.

• The first of what will be many previews of Michigan's first opponent (Western Michigan) appeared yesterday on Varsity Blue. Here's to 2009 opponent previews in May!

• So how bad does Delaware State want to play Michigan this season? Get this. In order to schedule Michigan for 2009, they had a actually forfeit a previously scheduled game. The opponent was North Carolina A&T. And yes, before you ask...this is a conference opponent. So just for the opportunity to play at the Big House, Delaware State is going to start the season 0-1 in conference play.

At some point college football is just going to implode on itself. This is still a ways off. But stories like this are disheartening.

• OL Seantrel Henderson (6-8, 301), the nations #1 overall recruit according to Rivals dot com, apparently "loved" his recent recruiting visit to Ann Arbor. Sure he's got the attention (and offers) from just about every other major college football program including tOSU, USC, ND, Florida, Oregon, FSU, UCLA, Iowa and Wisconsin. But word is, Michigan is his favorite school so far. He plans on making his announcement next January at the Army Bowl.
