Rankings are determined before each week's games.

The upper crust
At the moment, heading into B1G play...it seems like Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State are the teams to beat for the B1G East and Nebraska and Wisconsin in the B1G West. I don't see anyone else who will crack that top 5 right now. Shocking, right?

The contenders
West Virginia needed a last second field goal to beat Maryland a couple weeks ago, but the Terp's impressive win at Syracuse earns them the #6 spot. Indiana shocked Missouri last week to earn their way back onto our power rankings. Minnesota beat San Jose State 24-7 last week on 7 yards passing…SEVEN! Rutgers, also 3-1, is 4 points away from being 4-0 but got an impressive win at Navy last week.

Everyone else
Michigan? Yes, not in the top 9 teams in the Big Ten right now. This is a wins-based power list driven by results on the scoreboard…nothing more. I don't rank teams based on time of possession or good vibes.
