Drake Johnson Out for the Season with Torn ACL

Via UM media relations:
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan football sophomore/freshman running back Drake Johnson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) will miss the remainder of the 2013 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in last Saturday's game against Central Michigan, the team announced today (Monday, Sept. 2).
In his first career game action against Central Michigan, Johnson had two carries for nine yards and one tackle on special teams.
"You just hate it for Drake, but he's as tough as anyone on this football team, and he will make it back from this," said head football coach Brady Hoke. "He worked so hard through his redshirt season and had a really good camp in backing up Fitz (Toussaint), not to mention he was a really valuable special teams player for us."
Michigan has a lot of good depth at RB, but you hate to see this either way. Johnson was certainly right in the mix for playing time in the opener against Central Michigan. The redshirt freshman tallied only 2 carries for 9 yards last Saturday.
