Rankings are determined before each week's games.

The upper crust
Well, its here. Time for either Michigan State or Ohio State to claim their perch above all the rest in the east division. There's no question, this is the game of the year for the conference. If this game is as good as its being built up to be, the top two will likely remain the same next week.

The game of the year for the west division is next week when Nebraska visits Wisconsin.

The contenders
Aside from the top 4, there's still some teams hanging around…actually every B1G team is technically still alive for a shot at the B1G championship, but that'll probably not the case 48 hours from now. It appears no one will catch the winner of MSU/OSU in the east, but the west is still up for grabs with Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin all tied for 2nd place at 3-1. Iowa at Minnesota at noon on ESPN2 could quietly be one of the best games of the weekend in the B1G.

Everyone else
Your eyes don't deceive you, Michigan makes its triumphant return to the power rankings this week. Its not so much that Michigan is doing anything really great, but they have won 2 of their last 3 games, and  in this Big Ten…that's enough to get you on this list.

Penn State got a huge shot in the arm earlier this season when it was announced their sanctions would be lifted so they would be bowl eligible for this season. One would think that would be a huge booth for first coach James Franklin and his Nittany Lions, but their 4-4 overall record and 1-4 B1G record indicate otherwise. Thankfully, 3 of their last 4 games are against Indiana, Temple and Illinois…so two more wins are likely.

Northwestern, Illinois, Purdue and Indiana? NSFW.
