Incoming: Sean McKeon

With “Exposure U” kicking off earlier today, there was a solid chance that Michigan could be heading towards another commitment. Shortly after day one of the camp ended, 2016 Tight End Sean McKeon gave his verbal pledge to the Wolverines, making him the seventh recruit Michigan has been able to land since the start of June.

Scouting Report
After watching Sean’s highlight reel, there is a lot to like about his game. He already possesses excellent size (6’5-230 lbs.) to play the tight end position without adding on much more additional weight, and he’s got the ideal strength to be able to block along the line of scrimmage. Sean has decent speed for someone his size and does an excellent job of breaking off the line of scrimmage with a solid burst. According to his Hudl profile page, Sean runs a 4.69 40 time, which seems to be about right after watching his film. An excellent blocker who engages with his man on the line and can disengage and get up field to set another block with relative ease. After watching his highlight reel, it’s easy to see what Jim Harbaugh and company liked about Sean’s game, as he lines up in the traditional tight end spot and does an excellent job of blocking or becoming a receiving threat.  Not the most fluid route runner, but often finds himself in mismatches in the secondary due to his size. A more than capable pass-catcher and is constantly reeling in short yardage throws. Won’t burn defenses up the middle, but can get to the sideline in good time to make a play. All in all, Sean looks to be another hidden gem that the Michigan coaching staff has found this year, and he should fit in well with the offence that will be installed this year.

Highlight Video

Sean becomes Michigan’s thirteenth commitment in 2016 joining; QB Brandon Peters, LB Dele Harding, RB Matt Falcon, RB Kingston Davis, LB Dytarious Johnson, DE Rashad Weaver, CB Antwaine Richardson, ATH Kiante Enis, ATH Chris Evans, LB David Reese, OG/DT Michael Onwenu, and OT Erik Swenson.

By now we all know that Jim Harbaugh loves two things; Tight Ends and Competition. With McKeon’s verbal commitment earlier today being Michigan’s first commitment from a Tight End in 2016, I still fully expect the coaching staff to continue to recruit the position, as they are in good standing with multiple recruits such as; Chase Claypool (Abbotsford, BC) and Naseir Upshur (Philadelphia, PA). If Michigan is able to land one of the aforementioned recruits, a redshirt could be possible for McKeon.
