Michigan's QB depth just took a huge blow. I don't like spring football anymore.

Michigan Quarterback Russell Bellomy Out Indefinitely with Torn ACL
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan football junior/sophomore quarterback Russell Bellomy (Arlington, Texas/Martin) is out indefinitely with a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in last Friday's practice, the team announced today (Monday, April 1).

"It's unfortunate, especially for a kid who battled through a tough injury last season and was having a really good spring," said Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke.  "We'll continue to support Russell and look forward to having him back on the field."
Much like Jake Ryan's torn ligament, its a crap shoot when it comes to recovery time. ACL's are tricky, they heal very slowly...much slower then a bone break. Assume the worst...out probably a year.

So what does this mean? Well, it means incoming freshman Shane Morris is the presumptive backup for sure now – so long possible redshirt year. And he better stay healthy. The spring roster also lists RS SO Alex Swieca, RS FR Brian Cleary and RS FR Shaun Austin as QBs...none of which are on scholarship.
