News and Notes, Stats and Links

Rich Rodriguez held his weekly presser today. Some notes...

• The turnovers in the past two games are still something that need to be worked on...obviously.
• Michael Shaw is close to being back at full-strength and will play against Illinois.
• Carlos Brown sprained his foot and will be day-to-day.
• Perry Dorrestein is back for this week and should see some time.
• Your guess is as good as RR as far as who should return kicks, since everyone we put back there just catches the ball and freezes in their tracks. (But hey, at least they caught the ball this week)
• Kevin Koger has earned a starting nod over Carson Butler at TE this week.

We've updated the depth chart to reflect some of the changes/injuries. We also added a 3-deep column now!

Also making news is the latest recruit to give a verbal to the Wolverines. Detroit Cass Tech stud Thomas Gordon. The 3-star athlete brings both experience at QB and DB to this year's class. While most think he will likely see playing time as a DB at Michigan, it's a nice addition to the 09 class. It will also hopefully grease the rails for fellow classmate and former verbal William Campbell to re-sign with the maize & blue.

Some more updates for you, my weekly MBN Top-10 has been updated to reflect the weekend full of upsets. I may delve more into my top-10 later this week, but for now, just read it and weep.

Here are the game stats for the Wisconsin game. They're pretty ugly. Obviously, if I could've just posted the 2nd half for Michigan, I'd have done so. But, here they are anyway...

Also updated is the Big Ten Standings and Schedule/Results from the link list on the top middle column of the page.

And for those interested in why it was a no-brainer for Michigan to go for 2 after John Thompson's interception return for a touchdown, Brian at mgoblog has a very detailed reason.
